Fwd: Sunday's hash

Hello
This week's hash will take place around the Livingstone Monument, Kolobeng.

!0 00am start

Directions as follows

From the Rainbow School circle on the Western bypass, take the A10 road to Kanye. Go Through Mogaditshane on the dual carriageway which will become single track. Pass Gabane and continue through Kumakwane [about 6K from Gabane]

About 1K after leaving Kumakwane village, the road crosses the Kolobeng River. On your left, 2-300m after the bridge you will see a museum sign pointing to the  Livingstone Monument and a KH3 sign. Turn left onto the dirt road, through a gate and continue down the hill back  towards the river. Pass the entrance to the site and continue to the picnic site at the bottom of the slope.

There should be KH3 signs at appropriate places
After the run and circle down,  there will be an opportunity [we hope!] to visit the site for those of you that want to

As we are not sure how clean the picnic site will be, the bring and braai will be back in the Wright's place in Gabane.

The following week we will be using the trail run from the rugby club as our hash, 5K,10K and 21K races will take place so something for everyone. Entry forms will be available on Sunday

There is as yet no volunteer to hare the runs on August 17th and 31st so please consider offering!

Fwd: FW: London Region – indirect tax newsletter #4

Just a reminder to anyone coming to Sunday's Hash that there will be no Hash Beer as Jock is away. Although some refreshment will be supplied it would be a good idea to bring your own water at least.

And news of another over-achiever below--flying the t-shirt abroad!

Winning corporate gold in a KH3 t shirt!

London Region – indirect tax newsletter

This month's newsletter comes to you without any of the blind optimism of the pre-World Cup, pre-Wimbledon and pre-Tour De France edition of only 1 month ago.  Back then a heady summer of sporting success awaited us, whereas now we have only the thought of year-end appraisals and MyPD to keep us going into the autumn.

There is quite a bit of news this month: new graduates, leavers, returners, Gareth's continuing charitable efforts as well as the normal updates on finances.  So read on!

Gareth does more charity work, but doesnt like to talk about it

In the last edition we told you about our fearless PML's efforts in abseiling off 15 Canada Square.  Not content with throwing himself off things, Gareth took on another charitable challenge joining a group of colleagues from the Gatwick office to climb up a number of things over the course of a weekend, namely the 4 highest mountains in England.  The four peaks in question (Skiddaw, Scafell, Scafell Pike and Helvellyn) have a combined height of 12,542 feet so to climb all four in one weekend is quite an achievement!

In case you're having difficulties imagining how high 12,500 feet is it is about the same as 11 Eiffel Towers, 830 double decker buses, or a pile of approximately 73,500 Tolley's books.

If you would like to sponsor Gareth the link is https://www.justgiving.com/kpmglakes3000/

Sporting prowess

It appears that the indirect tax team is good at sport, or more likely that the rest of the firm is not very good at sport!  Congratulations to the team of Gordon, Rob, Steve, Tom, Rachael and Alex who took away the gold medal at the KPMG sports day. Have you ever seen more athletic group of tax consultants?

Based on eyewitness reports, Steve and Rachael are both expert plankers. Is anyone else curious as to who would win in a plank-off between them...

And finally

The new football season is nearly upon us and that means one thing...more disappointment for most of us as we cheer our teams to mid-table obscurity.  However, it also means Fantasy Football which provides an excuse for those of us who follow our home town clubs and have the misfortune to be born in places like Middlesbrough, Mansfield, Grimsby, Blackburn, Luton, France to follow some quality football.

The preferred fantasy football game of KPMG is http://fantasy.premierleague.com/.  It's free to enter and you just need to join the KPMG league. You'll get an email with the league entry code etc shortly.

This is not just limited to die-hard football fans by the way.  Anyone can play. For those who have a limited knowledge of football there is a function which allows the computer to pick your team, so you really don't need to know anything.

If people are up for it, we could have a small wager – perhaps a £10 entry with a cash prize for the league winner and managers of the month.  Prize values will depend on take-up and should keep interest levels up for the whole season.  In case you needed some more incentive, by an overwhelming majority it has been decided that Chris Knight will not be organising this competition, which means that someone else might win...

Fwd: Ostrich Migration

Ostrich Migration
An Update

Our planned destination on Saturday September 6th is River Still at Groot Marico.

There is chalet accommodation at R250 per person per night and camping at R50 per person per night. [The campsite is nice and grassy with basic ablutions]
There are 4 chalets sleeping from 2-7 but each has a sitting room so we may be able to get a few more in. The chalets are booked for Saturday night so we will have the place to ourselves
There will be a dinner on Saturday night which we will cook ourselves and for which there will be a charge.
If you want to travel up early and stay on Friday night that can be arranged,

The Migration is great fun for everyone--if you don't fancy running then drivers are very useful

If you haven't already done so. please let us know if you would like to join us and if you want chalet space. We may have to send a deposit soon but I will let you know if we do. The route planners need some idea of numbers in order to start arranging things, as well

Fwd: Fw: Hash

This weeks hash is the Annual Kgale Hill G+T run

We will start at the quarry car park at 9 00am . It is warming up during the day so an early start!

Directions to Kgale car park as follows:

Take the right turn off Lobatse road towards Game City car park (first robots after the Game City circle), but continue up the hill past the car park turn.  After about 1k the road levels out or even goes slightly down towards the quarry gates. The parking area for the Kgale path is on the left in front of the quarry gate (the quarry road bends slightly right here).
(Note for runners who have done the King of the Hill race – we cannot use the route through the quarry which the race uses. The normal path is steeper, rougher but probably a bit shorter than the race route – there are two alternatives near the top, one short and steep finishing directly at the summit, the other easier, crossing to join the tar road up the hill which the race uses)
There will be refreshments at the top

The climb will be the long this week. The short will be a lap of the car park with refreshments to follow. Those doing the short are advised to bring chairs.

The on-after will hopefully be at Sanitas or an alternative will be arranged

Fwd: Kgale twice

Hi All
Next week's hash will be the annual gin and tonic Kgale Hill run. We will meet in the Quarry car park, 10 00am, run/walk up the hill for a G+T and then down again. Those of us too elderly, infirm or just plain lazy to conquer the hill will enjoy our G+Ts while 'watching the cars' and cheer on those younger and fitter.
Details about the on-after will follow.

On August 9th [Saturday] the hash will take part in a proper race--The Kgale Hill Trail Run. There are three distances ---21K, 10K, 5K so everyone could have a go. This does NOT involve climbing the hill!
I will attach the entry form to this e-mail .and have some available at next weeks hash. It will be up to you to enter yourself [or find a kind soul to take your form in]

The August 3rd run will be from Kolobeng Livingstone Memorial and can include a visit to  the site--details will follow in due course.

August 17th and 31st are still free for those of you waiting for a chance to set!!

If you are interested in joining the Ostrich Migration---the main event of the year, please let me know asap.
