This Week's Hash: Broadhurst

Sorry for the delay, Hashers - here's the skinny on this week's Hash:

Your hares will be Nick O'Teen and Martha, and your destination will be their humble abode in Broadhurst. The date will be Sunday the 3rd of June, and the time will be 10:00 A.M.   Follow these directions to get there, don't bring your dogs, and remember your bring & braai stuff too:

Plot 11945 Nxogodimo Crescent, Broadhurst.

For those of you that haven't been there before – directions

From North (i.e. Phakalane)

1)      Take left hand turn at Airport Traffic Lights into Nelson Mandela road/street

2)      Over the road-rail bridge on Nelson Mandela road, follow the sweeping right-hand bend keeping to left-hand side.

3)      At the next set of lights – into the left-hand lane and take left slipway onto  Lemmenyane Street.

4)      Follow this street, through the next set of lights at top end of BBS Mall (if red would suggest you stop but Hey nobody-else does!!)

5)      Carry on down to the traffic circle with Limpopo Drive.

6)      Through the traffic circle – you can, if you wish, go straight across it, but other folk normally go round it!

7)      Still on Lemmenyane  Drive – take the next  road after the circle to your left – Sedi Way.

8)      At the T Junction in front of you (Tuli Court Flats will be directly in front) – turn right into Serowe Square

9)      Down Serowe Square, through the 90 degree bend to the left.

10)   Take the first road to your right after this bend – Nxogodimo Crescent.

11)   At the T junction in front of you, go right.

12)   We are the in the corner straight ahead of you – face brick wall with large palm trees outside, black gate with the numbers 11945 on the left-hand entrance wall.

From the South (i.e. Game end of town)

1)      Get onto Nelson Mandela road/street – this is the one that comes through the centre of town between the Government enclave on your right and the new CBD on your left.

2)      Come right up Nelson Mandela to the last set of traffic lights BEFORE going over the road-rail bridge – T junction with Lemmenyane Street.

3)      If you go over the road-rail bridge and hit the Airport traffic lights on the western By-pass - you have gone too far, turn around and then follow instruction from the North!

4)      At traffic lights with Lemmenyane Street take a right into Lemmenyane.

5)      Follow this street, through the next set of 4 way traffic lights at top end of BBS Mall (if red would suggest you stop but Hey nobody-else does!!)

6)      Carry on down to the traffic circle with Limpopo Drive.

7)      Through the traffic circle – you can, if you wish, go straight across it, but other folk normally go round it!

8)      Still on Lemmanyane  Drive – take the next  road after the circle to your left – Sedi Way.

9)      At the T Junction in front of you (Tuli Court Flats will be directly in front) – turn right into Serowe Square

10)   Down Serowe Square, through the 90 degree bend to the left.

11)   Take the first road to your right after this bend – Nxogododimo Crescent.

12)   At the T junction in front of you, go right.

There will be an On-ON braai at our place afterwards so bring all the necessary kit!!

Hash 1561: King of the Hill running race.

G'day there, Hashers.
This week's hash is another chance for our competitive runners (who may have joined the wrong "running club", but we'll try our best to keep them anyway) to shine. Please email Brad for instructions and information for the Annual King of the Hill run, up Kgale hill. Note that you MUST register by the 26th as per instructions, in order to participate.

There will be no "circle" as we are assuming our K3H delegates will all be participating in the WINNERS ceremony at the end, but if you do partake please give us a shout out by wearing your K3H shirt. Also, if you could please let us know you finished so we can mark your run on the runs sheet and give you your hash credit.

Regular hash-tivities will be back next week with Hares Nick O'Teen and Martha, "in town".

Hash No. 1560: Oasis Motel (& Moghul Indian Restaurant)

Greetings, Hashers:
This email is finding you a day or two early because you must RSVP with The Ripper in order to take part (again), so please follow the instructions below, if attending this week's hash on Sunday the 20th (at 10h00).

Directions to the Oasis Motel:

From where ever you live drive towards the Tlokweng Border past Riverwalk. Approx 2kms (not actually measured) past Riverwalk you will see the Oasis Motel signposted on the right hand side of the road so you have to cross the new dual carriageway.  For those of you who know the Oasis you will NOT be using the old entrance gate, there is a new one on the side as you cross the road. Parking is quite difficult but I will tell the guard to let people park in the residents car park and we will have the circle there.

We will be staying for lunch afterwards at the Mogul Restaurant, it will be Indian food. 15 people put their hands up at Sunday's Hash SO PLEASE IF YOU ARE COMING TO SUNDAY'S HASH AND WISH TO STAY FOR THE MEAL PLEASE LET ME KNOW - jmorty2@yahoo.co.uk

The meal will consist of finger starters then two/three main meals and rice.  I don't have a cost yet because it obviously depends on how many people are staying but hoping that it will be appox P75/80 per head.  We will have hash drinks for the circle but buy from the restaurant for the meal.

Amendment: Hash 1559: Last Chance Saloon! (update to Sunday's hash info - for everyone)

Hola, Hashers,
I'll save you "the long story" but it appears procedures at the CityScapes park (and Water Utilities) have changed and lo and behold we don't need permits after all, but we do need a little bit more money because it's "classy" now, so:
Short story:       hash still on at Cityscapes (apparently upgraded/redone ablutions, picnic area, etc BUT will wait and see) entry payable at the gate negotiated from P50 down to ROCK DASSIE'S SPECIAL MOTHER'S DAY BARGAIN of Pula 30 per person & NIL for vehicles.

So, if you haven't registered to come yet, and still want to - now's your chance! See you sunday.

Fwd: Hash No. 1559: This Sunday

Hidey Ho, Hashers,

As mentioned last week at the Poo Ponds, this week's hash comes with a special clause: we have to have permits to get onto "that side" of the dam, so you need to RSVP for this one.

PUH-LEEEESE reply to this email and/or Rock Dassie (who is organizing the festivities for us: derick.barratt@peri.co.bw) BEFORE THURSDAY MORNING THE 10th of MAY if you can come. He needs to arrange the permits in advance, and we will pay our entry price on the day (P10/person P20/vehicle).

Meet at 10h00 on Sunday the 13th (Mother's Day! Don't forget to bring your Mummy) from "around the Gabs dam area" - the actual DAM. NOT the yacht club. Directions are as follows:

From Samora Machel Dr. (otherwise known as "the road that Fairgrounds Mall, Cresta, and the turnoff to Sanitas is on"), if you're coming from Old Naledi/Old Lobatse Road/Cresta turn RIGHT onto the water works road just past Toyota Motor Centre and Fairgrounds Mall.  Obviously if you're coming from the Gabs Sun/Riverwalk direction, this turn will be a LEFT, just before Motor Centre. There is a sign pointing to Sanitas as well as a Water Utilities board, at this turn.

Then turn left onto a dirt road (also toward Sanitas), and proceed straight down this dirt road but do NOT turn at the next option to go to Sanitas - carry on through a few twists until you come to the dam wall (hopefully on your right) and keep going up to the boom where the permits that Rock Dassie will secure for us SHOULD be waiting.

Follow the road on to CityScapes where there will be a K3H sign either pointing right or continuing a further 4km until the next K3H sign.

A bring & braai will follow, so bring your food & chairs. It's a lovely spot by the waterside, so definitely worth the ten bucks to get in! Carpool if you can!

This Week's Hash: Glen Valley Poo Ponds

Howzit Hashers,

Before we get to the art of making you lost, a quick announcement:

We have a new international co-ed prospective hasher named Natalie who would like to join us this weekend, but has no 4-wheeled-transportation device in which to transport herself. Nor does she have a good idea of where the dickens the Glen Valley Poo Ponds is. If anyone is traveling from the south side of town (or Gabane or Block 9 or Mokolodi or elsewhere) and could swing by Kgale View to give her a lift on Sunday, can you please contact the mailing list (kalahari.hash at gmail dot com). Come on, be nice.

This week's hash will be at 10:00am on Sunday the 6th, from the outer fringe of Broadhurst. Your hares are our esteemed GM, Little Boy Blue, and The Pusher. Directions (translated from very poor Swedish) are as follows:

(Meeting point is) - Gabs side of the Phakalane ponds. This is on the "shortcut gravel road" from Broadhurst to Phakalene.

Coming from Gabs Sun going north (on Chuma Rd.) up to the big crossing at BBS mall (Lemmenyane + Segoditshane Way), go right (onto Lemmenyane) and make sure you still have BBS mall on your right while you are approaching the circle/rundabout. Go left (on Limpopo) in the roundabout/circle (now) heading north. You get out of town and pass Botlhale International School and the BDF on your left. Keep on and the tarred road goes over to  gravel road. You are now in the flourishing agricultural land of Glen Valley. Just keep straight on the gravel road for a couple of km and you will drive into a bunch of hashers if you are not very early.

And if you are the front driving early birds bustards, you can watch out for passing through what has probably been a gate to a fenced area and the road bends to the left. When you see a natural wall on your right, which could be keeping Phakalne ponds from flushing the car, coming up along the road, you are at the venue. A path leads up to the wall 5-10m from the road. Keep that shaded area to the right, close to the bushes for the hash circle etc and find a parking wherever else.

The On-Afters is a Bring & Braai at La Casa De Stenbeck (Little Boy Blue & The Pusher's Palace), Plot 13185 in Broadhurst after the run.
