Fwd: Future Hashes

We have a hash arranged for Sunday December 22nd at 4 00pm for which Chris Toyes is the hare, but he would welcome some help with setting and  haring!
As yet we have no runs arranged for 14/15 and 29/30 December or for 5/6 and 12/13 January.
I would like to get these planned as I will be away over that period---otherwise you are on your own!

Fwd: next hash

For this week's hallowed, hash-a-delic fitness extravaganza, you'll need to find your way to the Molapo Crossing intersection (where the Molepolole and A1 intersect). From that infamous square of traffic-doom, you will proceed north on the Molepolole Rd (not the A1 towards Francistown), PAST the Grand Palm/Metcourt Monstrosity, to the THIRD robot. At that robot, you will find the GIPS School on your right, and you will turn to your right.

Continue till your first RIGHT turn onto a road labeled Litabi Rd. Shortly thereafter, turn right again onto Letsholalathebe, and them IMMEDIATELY turn RIGHT again onto Gambule Crescent, our residential road of choice.  The road will curve left, and our plot will be about the 3rd plot on the left side, Number 39192. The plot has a putrid red/orange gate with a large tiki hut in the back.

For those of you coming from the other direction on the Molepolole Rd, head towards town and turn left at the GIPS School robot, and follow the rest of the previous directions. If you pass the Grand Palm light on your right, you've gone too far, turn around and go home.

There is a pool for swimming and a bar for drinking (assuming hash libations are brought) outside and we would be happy to have some of you stay around.

Should you find yourself lost, turn around and go home.  You may also call my wife, Hilary at 75485726, or myself, Owen, at 76655916.  Phone calls or directional requests may require payment in large sums of hash cash. There is also a map attached and below.

ON!

Fwd: Fw: Fwd: Sunday Oct 20th Hash

Come join the Hash House Harriers for a Sunday run/walk/jaunt!

Sunday Oct. 20th  at 10:00am.  We will meet at our house Plot 3072 just inside the American Recreation center (President's Drive, near Independence).  Give Cort a call when you get to the gate and he will buzz you in: 74176201.

You will find the Hash Harrier signs at the intersection of Independence and President's Drive.  Parking is ample on the street.  There is a short (5km) and a longer run (9-10km) planned. We would love to host a bring-and-braai after the run. In order to make this possible (as we just moved here and our shipments have not yet arrived) we would need a few volunteers to bring their portable grills. We also encourage people to bring lawn chairs!  See you then!

Fwd: Hash Sunday 15th September at 10h00

Subject: Hash Sunday 15th September at 10h00

Your Hares this week: Jill and Ian Hunt. See below:

FOLKS - WE HAVE 2*LARGE DOGS, SO PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR FOUR LEGGED FURRY HASHERS ON THIS HASH nor your pet donkeys, pot-bellied pigs, tame monkeys etc - THANKS!!!!

10.00hrs and On On Braai afterwards so bring all your kit and food and HOPEFULLY the swimming pool will be ready for Summer!!

Address - Plot 11945, Nxogodimo Crescent, Broadhurst.

From either North, South, East or West get yourself to the set of traffic lights (usually not working) at the top (north) end of BBS Mall (the local shopping centre just up from the Gabs Private Hospital)!

Get onto the road heading due east (where the sun rises every morning)  across the northern end of the Mall (Lemmenyane Rd) - follow this road through the traffic circle with Limpopo Drive and onto the first turning to the left after circle – Sedi Way (1st hash sign).

Take a left, past the car wash on your left, down to the T junction with Serowe Square (Tuli Flats directly in front of you) – (2nd hash sign IF we have 3 signs otherwise read these instructions carefully!!).

At this T junction, take a right and follow this road all the way through the right-angle bend to the left and the very next road to your right is Nxogodimo Crescent/Close (cannot remember which!) – (2nd or 3rd hash sign).

Down to the T junction (approx. 300 metres) – PLOT 11954 directly in front of you - DO NOT GO THERE as our plot number is 11945, therefore at T junction, take a right and follow the road down to the next corner – we are directly in front of you in the corner, high face-brick wall, 3 palm trees outside in front of wall and high black gate – number 11945 on the left-hand entrance wall to gate!

Cheers now

Fwd: Hash Sunday 8 September at the Yacht Club at 10h00

Your Hare this Sunday will be Lars ( Cow Herd)

How to get there:

Find Old Lobatse Road - it runs along Old Naledi.

From the Game Circle go east, cross the railway and two speed bumps. After a sharp 90 degree bend to the left take first gravel road to the right before the next pair of speed bumps. A sign points to Gaborone Yacht Club. Follow gravel road through Water Utilities' gate and carry on until you reach the gate of the Yacht Club. Park at GYC's parking.

From Khama Crecent or from Machel Drive - find T-junction between Machel Drive and Old Lobatse Road. It is near Cresta Hotel. Go south on Old Lobatse Road, it narrows from four lanes to two lanes, passes Department of Water Affairs and BPC transformer station. Carry on and at two speed bumps before a sharp 90 degree bend turn left into gravel road at the sign Gaborone Yacht Club. Then see above.

The Yacht Club charges entrance fee P20 per person at the gate. Members of the Yacht Club and /or the Gaborone Cycling Club go in for free. We will have a circle with specially brewed potion but otherwise we must buy drinks from their bar at cheap club prices. There is kitchen so those who want to can have lunch at very reasonable prices, so there will be no bring and braai this time. So just bring yourself and some madi (money).

Fwd: Hash Sunday 25th August 2013 at 10h00

Hi All

I have realised that we are forgetting that there are from time to time newbies ( being new Hashers) who may not know how things work. So " On-after braai, so bring your stuff " does not necessarily mean anything to them.

Here's how it goes :

So as not to cause any hassle to the Hares who already spent their time setting the trail for us, all that is required from the Hare is the braai facility and coals. The other Hashers bring EVERYTHING else they intend to use. This includes:

Chair
Table
Braai tongs
Plate and cutlery
And very importantly your own food. Sometimes a special treat is shared with all, but do'nt count on this, as you will most likely go home hungry.

Cold beer, cider and soft drinks are available from Hash Beer, which you can have in exchange for a drinks ticket purchased from Hash Cash, P50 for 6 tickets.

So now you all know !!

Ok, now for this week's Hash. Alison and John Collins are once again hosting it ( nudge, nudge, wink, wink to those who have not set one in AGES ) in Tlokweng.

Directions as follows :
Drive along Tlokweng road heading towards Tlokweng border Till you come to last set of traffic light ( the turn for SOS village, bordergate mall and Tlokweng police station.)
Turn left towards bordergate mall, drive past the police station and turn right immediately after the petrol station by bordergate mall. Take 3rd turn on your left (There is a car park and a water utility office on the right), the road turns to dirt just past the car park.
Stay on this road until it bend to the right sharply then take first left next to the pink walled house. Take first right and the house is the one on the corner. Concrete block wall with razor wire. number on gate says 420. 2 storey house with badly repaired meranti gate.

So now I can say with confidence :
On- After Bring and Braai so bring your stuff.

Hash Sunday 18th August 10h00 Gabs Game Reserve

This Sunday's Hash will be the Annual Game Park Hash set by Suzy Q and the Ripper- the Hash first, then we go into the Game Park for a braai.  This is the Game Park in town  NOT Mokolodi Game Park.

Directions:

Coming up from the University with the Gaborone Sun on your right, turn right at the first set of lights and through a second set of lights, around the bend and the Game Park road is on your right.

Coming past the Private Hospital go straight at the set of lights for pedestrians, straight at the next ones then left at the next ones and follows above instructions.

Coming Nelson Mandela just keep going straight through all the lights and around the bend as above.

We will not be parking at the Game Park Gates but on the left hand side of the road immediately as you turn into the Game Park Road. Anybody caught going past the parking area will be in line for a down-down!

The charge is P10.00 per person,  P10.00 per car and P5.00 for the picnic area (The Hash will be paying this).  You can get together and double up in cars as it is quite safe to leave your car outside.  There will be a braai so bring along the usual bits and pieces.

PLEASE BRING THE RIGHT SMALL DENOMINATIONS !!! Jean cannot possibly have change for all.

Fwd: Annual Potjie Competition Sunday 11 August at 10h00

Subject: Annual Potjie Competition Sunday 11 August at 10h00

Time to get cooking again !! For those who do not know, which included me until a few minutes ago:

There will be a shorter than normal Walk/Run this Sunday from Jock's place. He will provide a fire from which all participating parties can get coals to cook their favorite Potjie on. ( A potjie being the typical African black cast iron pot which you will provide yourself as well as the ingredients)
The quest would be to out-cook our current reigning Potjie Queen being Jean (The Ripper). And to have something to eat for On Afters.

As usual, bring your chairs and stuff.

Oh, and the directions :

Take the Molepolole road through Mogoditshane. At the traffic lights just after the Bokomoso Hospital on your right, turn right. Then turn immediately left about 10m after traffic light. There will be a K3H sign. From here follow the K3H signs and chalk markings to the house, about 1 km.

Fwd: Hash Sunday 4th August at 10h00

Hi Hashers

Hares this week will be John and Anne /Mary Poppins and Catlady.

For those who don't know, you need to head out of Gabs on the Kanye road from the Rainbow School circle on the Western Bypass. The road eventually becomes single carriage way. Ignore the main tarred road into Gabane and carry on until just before the hillside comes down to the road. It's hard to miss the dirt road as there is a jumble of notices to various high spots on the corner, and there will be a K3H sign there as well. Turn left onto the dirt until you come to a sign to the Taylors [and a K3H sign] turn right up there and park by the gate. We will circle up there but circle down and braai at the Hares's place further up the hill.

As usual bring chairs and braai stuff

Fwd: Hash Sunday 28th July

Hi All

This weeks Hash is at Dave's place, plot 27925, Lerula Road Block 3 .I cannot used his Hash Handle, as the email guard dogs regard it as rude and block the message going to some recipients.

Going north along the Western Bypass, turn right at the BTV circle [towards town]. Take the first and only turn left under the advertising hoarding and go up this road past Hillcrest School. Carry on up to the Travel Lodge, where the road turns sharp right. Lerula Road is the first left after the turn and should be signed K3H.

Coming from the Phakelane direction, go across the circle after Botswanacraft. Continue towards the BTV circle but take the only left turn before the

circle.Go down this road [Travel Lodge on the right] and take the first left turn. Lerula Road is then the first turn on the left.

There will be a bring and braai after so bring food and the usual stuff.

On On

Fwd: FW: Hash Sunday 16th June 10h00

 Hi Hashers

This weeks hash is at Viagra's place, plot 27925, Lerula Road. Block 3

Viagra is also doing a potjie which you will be invited to share.

On On

PS For those waiting anxiously to be removed from the mailing list, plse be patient. My regular job is interfering with this infinitely important task, AND Gmail is not allowing me to edit the list at present.

Hash 9th June 2013 10h00

Hi Hashers

Due to lack of bookings the Hashmas Dinner has been postponed to a later, more wintry date, so this week's hash will be from Gabane. Hares will be John and Anne /Mary Poppins and Catlady.

Fwd: Hare?

Sunday Hash 2 June at 10.00 am at Gaborone Bowling Club in the Village.

We have been there before so most Hashers know where to go. The rest of you, take Maratadiba Road from News Cafe (on the Gabs Sun road) into the Village, dead straight until you come to the traffic lights at the crossing with Sashe South Road. You will see a Total fuel station and the Village Club with Gym Active (now Jack's Gym) at this crossing. (You can also take Sashe South Road from Riverwalk and arrive at the same crossing).

Once at this crossing, continue on Maratadiba Road towards Tlokweng and turn first road left. If you pass a bridge you have gone too far. After the left turn you will see the Botanical Garden on your right and Gabs Club tennis courts on your left. Continue straight on bumpy gravel road, pass the Gabs Club main entrance and the bowling lawns and find a hopefully open gate on your left. Park inside the gate

Walk out on the football field, turn left and use small gate to enter the Bowls Club.

We will use their bar and braai facilities. There are braai stands and some tables and chairs but bring some extra chairs and all things needed for the braai. Your Hare will supply the charcoal.

Drinks are pre-paid and the bar lady will strike off your drink from the pre-paid amount. To limit the loss for our Hash Cash, please put a Hash ticket in the red Hash Box for every drink you take.

If lost, call Cow Herd 71259782.

Welcome!

Hash with a difference, Sunday 19 May, please note : at 10h30

Your hosts will be Little Boy Blue and the Pusher, details are:

Welcome to Garage Sale Hash in Broadhurst/Tsholofelo!

The hash can't start until 10:30 as the Pusher is pushing herself up Kgale Hill to defend her title as Veteran Queen of the Hill in the early morning!

In the meantime for routine trained hashers turning up at 10:00 we can offer a VIP first look of the garage sale goods!

We will not be able to host a bring and braii "on after" as we have too much to deal with regarding all our stuff and the braii equipment might be sold and gone by then….but we can offer some light snacks to your hash drinks at the flee-market place (our living room and our garage)!

Directions:

From Gabs Sun going north towards BBS Mall and the Gaborone Private Hospital (GPH), you pass GPH and at the traffic lights at the Shell station you go right keeping BBS Mall on you right. You arrive a round-about in which you keep straight ahead, (but it might be best following the circle around) and then take first road to the left (Sedie way) and then at T-junction go right and then first right after just 100 m into Tutume Rd. Go Tutume rd until it ends and you come to a big green gate with an attached name of "Legerwa Place". Park outside the gate if you don't have special needs with kids or having boxes of hash brew. We are number 14 in this compound of 20 town houses. (so far no new tenants here after 1 June as far as we understand).

Fwd: Hash 1610, Sunday 5th May at 10h00

Sunday 5th May Run 1610

Hi Hashers

Your Hares this week will be Brad and Angelina .

Angelina says:

Directions are simple:

- From the Western Bypass , turn onto airport road towards airport
- take second turn right
- take 5th turn left

Or just follow the K3H signs when on airport road.

We will not be on anyone's plot, and Hares have other commitments for the afternoon, so no braai on-after. I suggest that the really hungry (and thirsty) Hashers make a plan to have a meal at Airport Junction or Cattle Baron in Block 8.

There will be a beer-stop hopefully, so come thirsty!

Fwd: Hash Sunday 14th April at 10h00

Hash Sunday 14th April at 10h00

This week's hash will be in scenic Gabane, and Mary Poppins + Cat Lady will be your hares.

Directions:

From the Rainbow School circle on the Western Bypass take the A10 road west, signposted Thamaga, Kanye. It goes through Mogoditshane as a dual carriageway,  becomes single track as it leaves Mogoditshane by the Engen filling station. After about 4K the Gabane road leaves the main road on the left – DO NOT TAKE IT – stay on the main road for about another 2K. Where the hill ridge in front of you meets the road there is a turnoff left onto a good dirt road. There is a cluster of many signs here, including Do Not Litter (as if!), Thatched Houses for Rent etc etc. There will also be a KH3 sign. Take this left turn for about 300m, then take the third turning right which has another Thatched Houses for Rent sign and a sign saying Ditlhareng The Taylors. There will also be a KH3 sign here. 50m up this road is a gate and parking on the right where the hash will start. John and Anne's house is about 200m up the road through the gate and the finish circle and braai will be there but there isn't room for many cars. However there is a security man at the gate and he will be bribed to look after the cars.

Don't forget your braai stuff for on afters.

Fwd: This week's Hash

The next Hash will take place on Monday 8 April at 18.00 hours sharp. The venue is again at Gaborone Golf Club where the 6 o'clock rain at the AGPU washed away the trail which your hares Cowherd and Barry had just set, so they will recycle it this time. If it rains again they promised to  hand in their resignations.

You will find Gaborone Golf Club between Gaborone Sun Hotel and the National Stadium,  (do you really need directions to this?) Hash signs at the entrance. Please be on time - it gets dark very quickly  .

If light permits, there will be a quick putting competition following the run.
.
Drinks must be purchased at the bar, Happy Hour between 18 and 19 so run quickly. Beer then is P10, else P14. For those who want to eat afterwards there is a very nice Indian restaurant "Par 5" with Indian and Chinese dishes at reasonable prices next to he bar.

Fwd: Reminder for tonight - AND FOOD.

In case you forgot over the weekend, just a friendly reminder that your presence is kindly requested at tonight's run/walk/AGPU at the Golf Club at 6pm! And in case you didn't see our GM's email, here is the addendum regarding delicious eats and drinks available for on-afters:

The Hash funds will subsidize every hasher wanting to eat from the Indian n Chinese restaurant at the Golf club after the run and during AGPU. The subsidy will be at least 20 Pula per person, says acting hash cash. I have had great meals from this restaurant and their prices are very reasonable where you can get a very nice meal for around 60 Pula if you are hungry. Smaller Asian dishes also on the menu of course.

See you tonight!

Fwd: Next Hash: AGPU - Golf Club, Monday 25 March

Helloooo, Hashers!
Mother Nature says it's officially autumn, and that means saying goodbye to Monday evening hashes for awhile (unless anyone wants to set one in the next few weeks!) so, given that the Golf Club won't have us on any other day of the week, we thought we'd have one more jaunt through their lovely green grass before we head back into the blasting Sunday sunshine! If you don't know/remember where the Golf Club is, check the blog: http://kalaharihhh.blogspot.com/2013/02/fwd-next-hash-golf-club-party-time-woo.html

Monday night at 6pm sharp, we'll do the (short) golf course run/walk, so that we can make it back to the bar in time for happy hour, and carry on with our Annual General Piss-Up (AGPU, or AGM for those of you on the wagon).

We really need all hashers to make a special effort to attend, as this is the one time per year that we actually need to act like a real club and do some "administrative stuff". Numbers are important, and if there is going to continue to be a Hash House Harriers club in Gaborone in the future, it's important that we get some bodies there and hold this AGPU. Don't forget - it's at a bar, it's a fun run, and there might even be dancing ladies!

Again, The Mismanagement committee is pleading with all hashers to please volunteer a MINIMAL amount of their time to keep the K3H going throughout the year, by joining the committee. If you are not aware, here are some facts that you may or may not need to be reminded of, when digging deep into your heart to decide if you will agree to help out in the coming year:

1) K3H has been running EVERY WEEK for over 1600 weeks. That's over 30 years of hashing in Gaborone. We don't want to see it fail now!
2) The Mismanagement committee is the lowest-effort committee you'll ever find in any club around. Last year we had approximately 3 organized meetings (all involving drinks at a bar, and each lasting less than an hour).
3) You do NOT have to be posted or living in Gaborone for the whole year. If you are leaving town/country due to work or any other number of assorted (popular) excuses, we'll find someone to take over when the time comes. We just need all the help we can get, as long as it lasts.
4) The Mismanagement Committee is what you make it. If you have ideas or suggestions to make the K3H better, this is the way to do it - by joining the committee.
5) There are no "hard" jobs on the committee, everything is easy and takes minimal time. The main responsibility is to simply come up with good ideas for special events and creative ways to have fun as a club.

To summarize, anyone can be on the mismanagement committee, and the more volunteers we have, the better the club will be. We have a handful of committee members stepping down (or shifting roles) to make room for new OR old members to step in and help out. We also will accept anyone who simply wants to be on the committee without a specific role or position, but helps in the social planning for our various parties/events during the year. Dig deep, folks, we need your help.

Here is the list of positions that have been nominated/volunteered for, as of today. And a list of empty spots that we still need to have filled by Monday evening. Here is an old list with a brief description of what we do, if you're not sure: http://kalaharihhh.blogspot.com/p/mismanagement.html

AND! Don't forget, you CAN job-share! So, for example, we could have 2 Hare Razors, one to raise a hare and one to send out the email, etc. Or 2 Haberdashers, or 6 Social Sex members, or an "April-to-September GM" or a..... well, you get the idea.

Grand Master/Mattress (GM): _________________

Hash Brew: Cowherd
Hare Razor: ____________
Hash Cash: Ulla
Social Sex: Mary Poppins & Cat Lady

We are also looking for someone to volunteer to be the K3H "Storekeeper" so to speak, who would simply look after all the stuff that we have. It would basically require keeping an eye on our very small box of worldly possessions, past mementos, etc. If no one volunteers, this might also have to become a rotating position, which may jeopardize some of our "heritage items", so please consider lending a hand and/or a small corner of your garage.

Fwd: Next Hash: 4km Family Fun walk/run & party day - Grand Palm, SATURDAY

Hello Hashers,
The next hash will be a local run on this coming Saturday (the 16th), at the Grand Palm nature trail. It will be a nice chance to prepare yourselves for the annual Gabs marathon :-)

If you are interested, please see the flyer below - and note there is NO REGISTRATION FEE (woo hoo!) Hashers doing the trail will meet at the trail start (Grand Palm nature trail - ask when you get there if you get lost, or else look for the hashers in their t-shirts) for an informal "opening circle" and headcount, at the normal hash time of 10:00am. There will be no "official" closing circle or on-afters (due to the "official" and "public" nature of the event), but it is a day of socializing (and thus social drinking) so enjoy at your leisure! Please note that the flyer below says "8:00-1400" - that is because the trail will be open for this amount of time for runners and walkers to do on their own, as they please. The normal K3H time of 10:00am will be used to avoid confusion and encourage attendance! Please try and arrive a few minutes earlier than usual to figure in parking and navigating across the vast Grand Palm landscape for a 10:00am start.

Bring your friends and family along and enjoy a rather laid back atmosphere that will continue throughout the morning, even after you've put in your 4km.

Please note that we do need a hare for the next week, so if you can do Sunday the 24th or Monday the 25th, kindly let me know by replying to this email. Those of you who have not volunteered for awhile, we really need your assistance to keep the Hash going, and it is up to everyone to pitch in. Even if you can only set the trail and not host any on-afters, etc., that is fine, someone will help you out with a venue, or you can use any public space or whatever corner of town you please! Newcomers, be not afraid, everyone has to start stomping lime sometime! It only takes a couple hours of your time, and is a great way to help out the club. An old-timer will gladly help you out and show you the ropes if it's your first trail attempt.

We are also looking for a variety of positions on the Mis-Management committee to fill for the coming year and plead with all of you to volunteer for the committee in a role that you can help with, somehow, even if only part-time. Positions including GM, Hare Razor, Hash cash, etc. will be left vacant, and as with any club THE HASH CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT a committee. On behalf of your esteemed Grand Master, you are all asked to dig deep and let us know what you are willing to assist with. Feel free to reply to this email with your self-nomination! :-)
